HVAC and Plumbing Services in Shawnee and the Kansas City Area

Licensed HVAC and plumbing for homes, builders and developers across Kansas City.

TCS Services KC handles heating, cooling, water heaters, and plumbing for homeowners across Johnson County and the Kansas City metro, plus HVAC and plumbing for builders on multifamily and commercial projects. Owner Ryan Thomas holds Master Mechanical and Master Plumbing licenses. We're licensed in Kansas and Missouri, bonded, and have been serving the area since 2021. We're rated 5.0 on Google from 17 reviews.

Because we hold both licenses in-house, one company can take care of your furnace, your AC, and your pipes.

HVAC Repair

When your furnace quits in January or your AC stops cooling in July, you need someone who finds the real problem and fixes it properly. We repair:

  • Furnaces: no heat, short cycling, ignition and flame sensor problems, blower motor failures, odd noises or smells

  • Air conditioners: warm air, frozen coils, refrigerant leaks, failed capacitors and contactors, condensate drain clogs

  • Heat pumps: trouble switching modes, poor heating in cold weather, defrost issues

  • Thermostats and controls: wiring faults, failed thermostats, zoning problems

  • Airflow: weak airflow, uneven rooms, duct problems

Your technician tests the system, explains what's wrong in plain language, and gives you your options before any work starts. If your system is near the end of its life and repairs no longer add up, we'll tell you honestly.

AC and Furnace Installation and Replacement

A new system should be sized for your home, installed to code, and set up to run efficiently for years. We install central air conditioners, gas furnaces, heat pumps, programmable and smart thermostats, and the ductwork changes new equipment needs.

Signs it may be time to replace

  • Repairs are getting more frequent or more expensive

  • Rooms are uneven, or the system runs constantly to keep up

  • Energy bills keep rising without a clear reason

  • The system uses outdated equipment or refrigerant

  • You're remodeling, finishing a basement, or adding space

Oversized or undersized equipment wastes energy, wears out early, and leaves rooms uncomfortable. We look at your home's size, layout, insulation, windows, and ductwork before recommending anything, then install cleanly, test it, haul away the old equipment, and show you how to use the new system. Our plumbing license means related gas line and condensate drain work doesn't need a second contractor.

Water Heaters (Tank and Tankless)

No hot water, rusty water, or a puddle under the tank? We repair and replace gas and electric water heaters in both tank and tankless styles.

Water heater repair

We fix no hot water or running out quickly, pilot and burner problems, failed elements and thermostats, leaking valves and fittings, sediment popping or rumbling, and tankless error codes and scale buildup. A leaking tank body usually means replacement, and we'll tell you straight when that's the case.

Tank or tankless

Tank heaters are simple and familiar. We size the new one for your household and handle venting, gas connections, expansion tanks, and relief valve piping. Tankless heaters heat water as you use it, so you don't run out during back-to-back showers, and they mount on the wall to save space. Switching usually means gas, venting, or electrical changes, which we can plan and handle as one job. Tanks need periodic flushing; tankless units need periodic descaling.

Plumbing Repair (Drains, Leaks, Sewer, Repiping)

From a slow drain to a failing sewer line, we handle residential plumbing repair across the Kansas City area.

  • Drains and clogs: sinks, tubs, showers, toilets, and floor drains. We clear the blockage and look for the cause, whether it's grease, roots, buildup, or piping, so it doesn't keep coming back.

  • Leaks: dripping faucets, running toilets, supply lines, and hidden leaks behind walls or under floors

  • Sewer and water lines: backups in more than one fixture, gurgling drains, sewage smells, or soggy spots in the yard can point to a cracked, sagging, or root-filled line. We repair or replace damaged sections.

  • Repiping: aging galvanized or corroded pipes cause low pressure, discolored water, and repeat leaks. We do full repipes or just the problem sections.

  • Also: faucets, sinks, toilets, garbage disposals, sump pumps, and gas line work

Commercial and Multifamily HVAC and Plumbing for GCs and Developers

TCS works with general contractors and developers on multifamily and commercial new construction in Kansas and Missouri. With Master Mechanical and Master Plumbing licenses in-house, we can take both scopes, so you coordinate one trade partner instead of two. We're bonded with capacity for large projects; contact us about your bonding requirements.

  • Multifamily: unit HVAC systems, ventilation, domestic water and drain-waste-vent piping, water heaters, and fixtures, with rough-in and trim coordinated with the other trades

  • Commercial: heating and cooling equipment, ductwork, supply, waste, and vent piping, gas piping, and fixtures, built to plans and local code

  • How we work: bid review and pricing from your plans and specs, coordination with your superintendent, scheduling around your critical path, permits and inspections for our scope, and clear communication from rough-in through closeout

Services FAQ

Should I repair or replace my furnace or AC?

It depends on the system's age, the size of the repair, and how often it's been breaking down. We'll give you an honest recommendation after diagnosing it, and the decision is always yours.

What should I check before calling about my heating or cooling?

Make sure the thermostat is set correctly and has power, the breaker hasn't tripped, and the air filter isn't clogged. If those look fine, call us.

Is a tankless water heater worth it?

It can be for households that use a lot of hot water or want to free up space. We'll explain what your installation would involve before you decide.

How do I know if I have a sewer line problem?

Warning signs include several drains backing up at once, gurgling toilets, sewage smells, and wet or sunken spots in the yard.

What should I do in a plumbing emergency or if my water heater is leaking?

Shut off the main water valve (or the heater's cold-water supply and its gas or power), then call us at (913) 530-8789.

How do we invite you to bid on a project?

Call (913) 530-8789 or send your plans and bid documents through our contact page.
